Frequently Asked Questions

I specialize in supporting children and adults navigating complex trauma and neurodevelopmental differences. Early in my career working in community mental health, I saw how often individuals needed support that extended beyond a single diagnosis. That experience shaped my approach to understanding the full picture of a person's needs. I also have experience working with concerns such as anxiety, oppositional or defiant behaviors, and addiction related challenges, and continue to pursue ongoing training to strengthen these areas of practice.
I believe therapy should feel both safe and purposeful. Healing rarely happens through pressure or performance. It tends to grow through steady connection, understanding, and meaningful insight. My role is not to tell you who to be, but to help you understand yourself more clearly so you can move forward in ways that feel more aligned and sustainable.
Therapy with me is collaborative and active. I ask thoughtful questions, offer practical insight, and provide psychoeducation to help you understand the patterns behind what you are experiencing. I balance compassion with accountability so you feel supported while still being gently challenged. My work integrates trauma informed care, EMDR, somatic strategies, DBT, cognitive behavioral approaches, and executive functioning support, all paced to respect your nervous system and individual goals.
The first session focuses on getting to know you, understanding what brings you in, and making sure you feel comfortable with the therapy process. We will also review important practice policies and expectations so you have a clear understanding of how therapy works and what you can expect moving forward.
During this session, I complete a biopsychosocial assessment, which is an important part of understanding the full picture of your life and experiences. This means we will talk about different areas that can influence your wellbeing, such as personal history, relationships, current stressors, physical health, strengths, and support systems. Looking at these areas helps ensure that therapy considers the many factors that may be affecting how you feel and function, rather than focusing on only one concern.
We will also begin discussing treatment goals, which serve as a roadmap for our work together. These goals help guide our sessions and ensure that the time we spend in therapy stays focused on what matters most to you. Goals can change and evolve as therapy progresses. You are always welcome to share at your own pace, and there is no pressure to have everything figured out in the first session.
Many of the individuals I work with manage demanding careers, leadership roles, or high levels of responsibility. Sessions are structured to be focused, thoughtful, and practical so the work we do translates into real life.
Telehealth allows you to attend sessions from the privacy of your home, office, or another comfortable space without the added time of commuting. It can make it easier to maintain consistency with therapy while balancing professional responsibilities, travel, and other commitments.
Yes. I offer free consultations for individuals considering therapy so we can determine if our approach and dynamic feel like a good fit before beginning services. This provides space to ask questions, discuss goals, and ensure the therapeutic relationship feels safe, comfortable, and aligned with what you’re looking for. Consultations are scheduled outside of normal working hours to help avoid disruptions to your work schedule before starting therapy.
For clinicians and other professionals, I offer case consultation and EMDR consultation for those seeking support with case conceptualization, skill development, or continued professional growth. My work is grounded in trauma informed and neuroaffirming care, and consultation focuses on practical application, thoughtful case formulation, and strengthening clinical confidence. It can be especially helpful for newer clinicians, trauma focused therapists, or professionals working with complex or neurodivergent clients. At this time, I do not offer clinical supervision toward licensure.

Protecting your privacy is an essential part of the therapeutic process. Therapy is confidential in accordance with state and federal laws in Florida and Ohio, with limits related to safety concerns explained during informed consent. When working with minors, confidentiality is guided by state law, often allowing adolescents privacy within their sessions while maintaining appropriate caregiver communication.
Sessions are not recorded by default. If recording were ever considered for a specific purpose, your therapist would discuss it with you first and obtain your written consent, and you may decline at any time. To help protect confidentiality and the therapeutic space, we also ask that clients do not record sessions without discussing it with their therapist and receiving mutual consent, including audio recording, video recording, screenshots, or screen recordings during telehealth sessions.
In some cases, we may use HIPAA compliant technology tools to assist with administrative tasks such as organizing clinical notes or documentation. If this were ever considered as part of your care, it would be discussed with you first and your written consent would be obtained. You always have the right to decline or opt out without it affecting your care. Any technology used in the practice supports documentation only and does not replace the clinical judgment or care provided by your therapist.
For established clients who are actively engaged in ongoing therapy, I offer Documentation & Advocacy Support, which may include Emotional Support Animal (ESA) assessments, FMLA paperwork, short term disability forms, and school or workplace accommodations when clinically appropriate. In most cases, these requests can only be considered after a minimum of three months of consistent treatment.
This timeframe allows your therapist to develop a thorough understanding of your history, symptoms, and functional needs. Responsible documentation requires an established therapeutic relationship and adequate clinical assessment.
Please note that therapy services are not provided solely for the purpose of obtaining documentation, and requests for letters or forms cannot be guaranteed. Any recommendation must be based on clinical appropriateness, ethical guidelines, and professional standards of care.
Completion of paperwork or letters may require additional time outside of sessions and may be subject to fees, which will be discussed with you in advance.
I require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments without notice, are subject to a cancellation fee. I understand that unexpected situations arise — I always encourage open communication whenever possible. This policy protects your dedicated appointment time and ensures fairness for all clients.
Yes. I accept several major insurance plans for therapy services in Florida and Ohio. If I'm not in-network with your specific provider, I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement, which you may submit to your insurance company for possible coverage.
I also work with self-pay clients and offer a limited sliding scale for those who qualify. A card on file is required for all clients. Payments, copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and applicable fees are processed automatically on the day of your appointment.
